Wine escapes
Four faces of the Bordeaux vineyard
From Les Pénates, discover Médoc, Saint-Emilion, Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes at a relaxed pace with tailored logistics.
Two estates per day (1–1.5 h each)
Car, tram + TER or private driver
Soft cooler, notebook, patience
Choose your route
Pessac-Léognan: the easiest option from Bordeaux. Château Pape Clément (spectacular gardens, daily tours) and Smith Haut Lafitte (spa hotel, Lavoir restaurant) blend history, architecture and wine less than 30 minutes away.
Médoc – Margaux: Cabernet country with iconic architecture. Allow 25 minutes by car, 45 minutes via tram + TER or about 1h30 by e-bike for a bucolic ride between vines and estuary.
Saint-Emilion: golden stone lanes and underground cellars. Count 45 minutes by car or one hour by bus from Quinconces; pick estates you can reach on foot from the village.
Sauternes: saffron-hued sweet wines, highly educational tours followed by an iconic Grand Cru. Driving remains the most convenient choice.
Tailored organisation
Before you go
Book tours several weeks in advance, aim for two properties maximum and take a soft cooler if you plan to bring bottles back.
On site
Spit without hesitation, balance educational visits with headline estates and take notes: aromas, textures, favourites.
Afterwards
Stay for lunch at the estate or in a nearby village, then return to Les Pénates to enjoy the garden; we can arrange bottle shipping if needed.
Need a driver, a bespoke tour or a list of insider châteaux? Share your wishes and we will orchestrate everything.
Practical tips & safety
Taste responsibly: choose shared transport, shuttles or private drivers if you plan multiple appellations. Spit without hesitation and jot down favourites to compare later.
Consider grouped shipping for your purchases or leave half a suitcase empty to bring back a few cartons. We can store your bottles safely during your stay.
