Our story

Our guesthouse

At Les Pénates Bordelaises, Maria Luisa and Sylvain have imagined a place that reflects their passions and journeys.

Born in Sicily, Maria Luisa leads an international career as a conductor and pianist. A polyglot and keen cook, she participated in “Objectif Top Chef”. She also teaches piano and sometimes treats guests to rehearsals in the garden.

A plant lover, she has shaped a thriving ecosystem around the pool and on the rooftop: vegetable garden, aromatics and flowers invite birds and pollinators, creating a soothing atmosphere.

Sylvain, 46, spent fifteen years in tech entrepreneurship before opening Les Pénates in 2020. A wine enthusiast, traveller and competitive chess player, he wants the house to host seminars, exhibitions and convivial gatherings beyond hospitality.

Their world is completed by Monsieur Pompon, a lop-eared rabbit and the house mascot. This cheeky fruit lover stars on Instagram and entertains guests with agility sessions in the garden.
